I believe that you system came with either a RealTek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n or Atheros AR9485 802.11 b/g/n WiFi adapter, which only support the 2.4Ghz band, so if you want to take advantage of the 5Ghz speeds, your best option will be to invest in a USB WiFi adapter that supports 802.11ac.
